Converts with grins on their facesI go to Somerford Park around twice a month, and for 4 years now the grooms there have seen my horses turn up barefoot and jump. They began to ask questions about a year ago, and this year two of them recently had the shoes taken off their horses. They were SO excited when I saw them today.
Their horses have sole callouses after a few weeks and they are amazed that they are already able to walk over small stones without feeling them. They are bubbling about the changes they are seeing and comparing notes to make sure their horse isn't doing anything the other one's not. I am hoping that they have ones at the easy end of the spectrum, because I'd hate for them to be disappointed now. But they are doing all the right things with work on tarmac and on arenas, turnout and I've told them what to watch for with the food.
It took a long time but convincing them by showing them what my horses actually do was very satisfying

Ah Chris, won't they say that I was too evangelistic in pushing them to do it in just four years ?

Its fantastic, and the best way, IMO - especially as they've seen you with so many different horses

Dyou know, it only twigged this week with me what a troll was! I saw it as a sticky on the H&H forum 'Don't Feed the Trolls' and honestly thought it was a reference to something 'proper'! Duh . . . Actually opened said sticky this week after all the 'troll' referencing here, and enlightenment dawned!!!!!!! While being a newbie to barefoot I'm also a newbie to forums! Anyway, I completely agree with Bruce - one of them, no names mentioned but she resides in hell, first letter S, has 16413 posts, been a member 2 years 7 months, so that's 17.5 posts PER DAY!!!!!! Plainly nothing better to do, and living permanently in that sarcastic world of hers, well, she can't be a happy soldier can she . . .

You're right Nic, I was counting up. It's because they have seen eight horses, one after another, that they just can't ignore it any longer.
Edit - forgot Caddie as I only had him three months or so. Make that nine.
He was straight off the racetrack too - I took his aluminium plates off.

Thats great that you've made someone "see the light"!
I agree with what you said too, in that I hope they have the 'easy' type that make a good transition to being barefoot and have no metabolic problems!
