Fresh rosehipsSo Pog was picking some off the bush today out on our hack, having been given a small handful and thought they were yum. But he only picked one mouthful before ambling home.
There are several bushes near me; how many might I feed him daily at this time of year that would actually do some good?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't it rosehips that just go straight through them?
I mean ... as in, they look very similar when they come out to how they went in?!
I have lots of bushes around me with them on and I let Reps nibble away a them but I'm pretty sure that the best way to feed rosehip is in the powder form that you can buy ... ( )

Completely unhelpful and unscientific. (I have no idea)
But girlies have always helped themselves after a ride and lose interest fairly quickly. They seem to be quite fussy over which ones they will eat.
But maybe that's because they are such discerning well bred ladies
More than one has downed whole rose heads in quantity too (much to annoyance of YO)

I think they love the shells, but not the contents. Mine eat the shells when I cut them and empty them, but kind of go uck at the whole hip
Becnreps - it's the dried rosehip shells that tend to go through them - so I soak them so they are absorbed and don'r show up in the poo. Powder would be good to I guess.
The cob is pretty into thistle heads as well.

ahh ... knew there was something to do with rosehips and 'going through them'!!
If I was going to buy rosehips then, what should I buy? can you just buy the dried shells?

Hi Becnreps - I've just had a delivery from Brucea's tipoff - cotswolds herbs and spices - they're just updating their website to https://www.cotsherb.co.uk/ but you can call them - number on their homepage. I ordered the rosehip powder cos it was the cheapest and have mixed it up with other stuff. Cheap as chips - mind you I had to wait 12 days for it but when I rang to chase they said they were 'very busy'. So I'm placing another order now so it'll be here for when I run out of this order.

I have been going on for a while trying to order but their website is down for improvements ... as soon as it's back up I'm going to do a big order!
