Soaking Copra

Is there a max time you can soak it before you lose nutrients?

I start work at 7.30am and finish at 21.00. There are days when I have no back up. Is it too long to leave the copra soaking? At the moment I don't bother soaking any and just give chop and supplements on those days.

I only soak it for  10-15 minutes.  I've got 2 horses which are very prone to choke and they have never had a problem with this, but its a lot shorter than the recommended time so its at your own risk  Confused  Wink

In summer I do mine for 10 mins.  Don't like to leave it hanging around in the warm.

As soon as its turned colder I soak mine overnight.  (6pm-6amish).

Never had any problems either way, am just tight and prefer the over-nighter as it has always swelled up more so they get more water and bigger feeds so I don't feel such a cruel mum!  Rolling Eyes  Laughing

I've soaked it with warm water and used in a few minutes and left it overnight in cold water with no problems.
