Does anybody know of a cure for ringworm in horses?
I am using Imaverol liberally & religously twice a day & have been for 2 weeks but still there are new patches appearing. This is a truly miserable affliction, & the itching is driving my poor horse nuts. Any advice from anybody's experiences with this rotten, stubborn fungus which I have now truly had enough of would be much appreciated.
I have said it before, but this is absolutely the LAST time I EVER send one of my horses away!!!
Just read an article in H&H in which horses were vaccinated with cattle's ringworm vaccination with good results - can anybody think of ingredients in this vaccination which would cause a problem if I choose to go down this road?
I'm sure you're doing it anyway, but disinfect anything which comes into contact with your horse - brushes, rugs etc. I had a friend who got ringworm from a top she bought in a second hand shop
Nic - your poor friend what bad luck - no danger of that with me - my clothes never get chance to go to a second hand shop they literally have to fall apart before I can bear to part with them Am disinfecting & trying to keep clothes separate etc. Costing me a fortune in washing powder alone.
Did it for me. I had it on the web of my hand between thumb and forefinger - cleared it up quickly enough. But it is not a pleasant thing to have and an ounce of prevention is with a pound of cure...
Thanks Jo, I have only recently moved & don't know my new vets very well & they just keep recommending the imaverol, which isn't doing anything as far as I can tell. Good idea though, I will ring my old vet on Monday & have a chat to him.
